Holly crap!! Where have you been all my life… Have you ever discovered a new gadget or tool and had this reaction? I know that I have… In fact, I just did when I got my Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter.
While something as small as cutting the head off your cigar before you light it, may seem somewhat insignificant. It can actually have some big impacts on the cigar smoking experience.
Impact of the Cut
Cutting a cigar accurately is a skill. When you are first starting out it can take some time to master. Cut off too much and your cigar’s wrapper will begin to unravel as you smoke it and it. It may also burn faster, because with each draw you a pulling in more air. Cut off too little and your draw will be tight and slow.
So, if getting the cut of your cigar right is so important, wouldn’t you want a cutter that would ensure you got a perfect cut every time?
How the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter is Different
That is where the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar cutter comes in. This cutter is designed to cut your cigar perfectly every time.
The main difference between the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter and other guillotine style cigar cutters is that instead of having a straight through hole that you place your cigar in, there is a back surface that you put the head of your cigar against. This surface is positioned so that the gap between it and the cutter’s blade is the right distance to give you the perfect cigar cut every time.
They even went as far as putting a hole in the center of the back surface, so that you can use this cutter on cigars that have a pointed head (Torpedo, pyramid, etc.). This feature allows this cutter to give you a perfect cut every time no matter what cigar you are smoking.
When you receive your new Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter, one of the first things you will notice is how nicely it is packaged. Looking at the box, it has very nice gold lettering. Also, you will notice that this cutter, like most high-end cutters, has a lifetime guarantee.
Opening the box, again you will find a card from Cuban Crafters noting the cutters lifetime guarantee. Moving the card away, you will find the cutter. The cutter in packaged very well and sits in a cutout foam insert in the box.
Picking the cutter up, it does not seem that different from other metal guillotine style cutters. Its only when you turn the cutter over notice the small hole in the back that you know there is something different about this cutter. Opening and closing the blades a few times though, and you can tell this is a very well-made cutter.
How it Works
The Cuban Crafters perfect cigar cutter operates just like any other guillotine style cutter with one exception. You really don’t have to think about how you position the cigar in the cutter to get a perfect cut. For beginners, this a great feature!!. If you are smoking a cigar that has a rounded head, simply close the blade and boom a perfect straight cut. If you are smoking a cigar that has a head that comes to a point like a torpedo or a pyramid, simply place the tip of the cigar’s head through the small hole in the back of the cutter and close the blades… It really is that simple.
This simple and foolproof ability to get a perfect cut every time is great for the beginner and experienced cigar smoker. I have noticed that also this comes in handy for the times when getting a good accurate cut is difficult. Like if, you are smoking in the dark or after having a few adult beverages.
My Experience with the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter
I have cut at least 50 cigars with this cutter. The blades are still razor sharp and it cuts like a dream. I am not seeing any signs of wear and tear. The only thing I have noticed is since this cutter has a back surface sometimes, bits of the wrapper or filler may fall into the gaps in the cutter between the blades and the back surface. This is not a big deal, and the cutter is easy enough to clean out.
I must say that out of all of the cigar cutters I have owned this one is now may favorite. Now don’t get me wrong, I would still like to have a Xikar XO Cutter. Its design is just cool. However, in terms of ease of use, versatility and value the Cuban Crafters Perfect cigar cutter wins that contest hands down.
It does not matter if you are a novice cigar smoker or if you have been smoking cigars for years, you need to own one of these cutters. I know I plan to get at least one more and will probably end up giving some as gifts to my cigar smoking friends and family.
