Whether you are a newbie or you have been smoking cigars for a while, one of the pieces of gear you will always need is a good cutter. My personal preference in cutters and probably the most versatile types of cutters is a double-bladed guillotine cutter. Right now my go-to cutter is the Alaska Bear Cigar Cutter I picked up from Amazon.
- 🧐 Brushed stainless steel, custom design by Alaska Bear.
- 🧐 Supreme craftsmanship and solid construction.
- 🧐 Self-sharpening double blades that cut cigars clean and precise.
- 🧐 Hole diameter: 0.892 in. (22.66 mm), for all sizes up to 60 gauge.
- 🧐 Comes in a gift bag to keep and protect the cutters.
There are a lot of options out there for a guillotine cutter. There are some that are high quality but are on the expensive side. Also, there are some really cheap ones that aren’t that great of quality.
What you need when you are first starting out is something that is a good middle of the road cutter. You need one that has decent quality and will last a while, but doesn’t cost a ton, because when you are first starting out you should be spending your money on cigars and not gear.
My search for decent quality cheap cigar cutter led me to Amazon and the Alaska Bear Cigar Cutter.
I bought this cutter, because I thought for the price, even if it wasn’t that good of a cutter, it would be a good backup or one I could keep in the car. I must say that I have been very surprised and pleased with this cutter.

What Others Think
Overall, this cutter has a 4.6 out of 5 ratting on Amazon with 8,535 total reviews as of the time I am writing this. Since most of the reviews are positive, I spent some time going through the less positive reviews (3 stars and under).
The majority of them centered around issues with the blades in the cutter being loose and rattling when you would shake the cutter. There was a fair number of reviewers with this issue that contacted the manufacture about it and were sent replacement cutters.
Sounds like there was most likely a manufacturing issue with a batch of the cutters and the manufacture did the right thing and replaced the defective cutters free of charge.
Other folks mentioned that it lacked the “quality” they were expecting. I’m not sure what they expect from a sub $10 cutter. It’s not a Xikar cutter after all.
My Overall Impression
This cutter offers a great bang for the buck! This cutter is better than cheap plastic ones some shops offer.
I have owned this cutter for almost 8 months at the time I am writing this, and I must say I like this cutter a lot. If offers a good clean cut and feels good in your hand. Because it is made of stainless steel and not plastic, it has a little weight to it.
It comes with a pouch, but I didn’t use it when I got the cutter. At this point I am not sure when it ended up.
If you are a beginner cigar smoker, this a great first cutter. It gets the It won’t break the bank and it gets the job done. A combination that can’t be beat in my book. Pick up your own Here.
